Scholars Receive Specialized, Advanced Training in Neurodiversity-affirming Practices through Multi-faceted Community Mentorship

  • Uniquely Specialized Coursework

    Unparalleled Instruction

    TAG Scholars will take advanced graduate coursework in autism, neurodiversity-affirming principles, augmentative / alternative communication, and literacy. These courses are designed to maximize experiential learning so you understand content deeply.

  • Advanced Clinical Training

    TAG Community Partnerships

    Through TAG's community partnerships with schools and libraries, TAG Scholars will learn to implement universally designed group interventions that are uniquely tailored to address the strengths and challenges of elementary aged neurodiverse children: including behavioral self-regulation, reading comprehension, social interaction and communication.

  • Multi-experience, Multi-leveled Mentorship

    The M3 Model

    TAG Scholars will receive tailored mentorship at multiple levels and through multiple clinical and community experiences. Emphasis is placed on welcoming students to various communities of practice that will sustain their professional and career development after graduation.

Application Overview and Requirements

  • Apply to MWU, Glendale

    To be considered for the TAG Scholarship Program, eligible students must apply and be accepted to the Speech Language Pathology Program at Midwestern University, Glendale Arizona

  • Submit a Character Application

    The TAG Scholars Program is recruiting students who exemplify social responsivity and compassion in their active contributions to a community meaningful to the applicant. After interviewing at MWU, interested students should email Dr. Fissel Brannick for Character Application Instructions

  • Scholarship Awards

    Scholarships are awarded to students who enroll in the SLP Program at MWU Glendale, based on the strength of their Character Application. Scholarships (~22k), are awarded for one year of advanced training to work with neurodiverse children in Arizona's Schools.

  • After Graduation, Work in AZ Title 1 Schools

    The TAG Scholars Program is designed to build the capacity and retention of speech language pathologists who are prepared and excited to work with neurodivergent children in Arizona's Title 1 Schools. Following graduation from MWU, scholarship awardees must complete a 2-years service requirement in AZ Title 1 Schools.
